S-Video TV Out with Ubuntu 9.04

I have an older machine that I recently converted into an Ubuntu 9.04 server for various needs.  One of those needs is to play television shows or movies onto a TV via an S-video output.  I did not want dual output or anything like that — I simply wanted a TV hooked into my machine.  Unfortunately, unlike Windows XP/Vista, Ubuntu doesn’t automatically detect S-video output.  To make the matter worse, I have an older ATI Radeon 9200 video card, which caused some drivers issues.

Javascript Speed Test – 2009 Browsers

The official Summer 2009 Javascript speed test results have been posted!   Check them out under the “Test Results” section of the page.  The conclusion: “Safari has taken the lead by performing about twice the speed of its nearest competitors, Chrome and Firefox.  Opera, the once champion of the speed test, has fallen from its throne to the second-to-last position.  Perhaps the most surprising is how much worse IE8 fared relative to its competitors — it was 2-3 times slower, but now is performing almost five times slower.”
